Keynote Luncheon State Leadership Transformation: Next Generation Learning and Reform

This expert panel will cover leadership from the state and federal level to drive transformation and explore the future of education and systems change. Gene Wilhoit’s keynote presentation is titled, State Leadership toward Transformation: Next Generation Learning and Reform, and will discuss how states are engaging in transformative leadership to open policy for next generation learning, how the Common Core will help drive transformation toward performance-based learning and multi-state initiatives for collaboration. Steve Midgely will discuss the federal perspective and cover his work on the Learning Registry – How to Find and Use More Resources for Digital Learning. The future of digital content, open educational resources and user-generated content as well as high-quality third party content are part of a systemic shift toward personalizing learning for every student. The systems to support large scale change will be examined.

Susan Patrick will moderate the session and engage in a lively discussion with the panelists.
